Correlation among Hemolysis Biomarkers in Pediatric Patients Undergoing Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation

چکیده
Hemolysis is a common complication associated with mortality on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). Plasma-free hemoglobin (PFH) the most commonly used biomarker reported for hemolysis ECMO. This test not readily available at all institutions, and other more tests may indicate nearly as well or PFH. The purpose of this study was to correlation biomarkers PFH All patients younger than 21 years placed ECMO in quaternary children's hospital between January 2013 December 2016 were included study; (urine [U-Hb], PFH, lactate dehydrogenase [LDH], aspartate aminotransferase [AST], gross hemolysis, red cell distribution width (RDW)) collected from medical record. Descriptive statistics repeated bivariate analyses determined using SPSS 22.0. median age day 0 29 days (.08 years) (IQR: 2; 319 (.005; .875 years)). weight 3.9 kg 2.8; 8.6), total duration run 10.48 4.25; 14), 82% being venoarterial There no hematuria urinalysis level ( p = .338). statistically significant positive following respective biomarkers: routine chemistry studies < .01, Rho .439), AST RDW .190), LDH .584), (when elevated alanine transaminase (ALT) levels censored) .552). U-Hb correlated poorly serum (in absence ALT elevation) can be useful surrogates quantify pediatric patients.

Enhanced hemolysis in pediatric patients requiring extracorporeal membrane oxygenation and continuous renal replacement therapy.
PURPOSE Hemolysis during extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) may be associated with the development of hemoglobinuria (Hb) nephropathy and acute renal failure. For patients requiring ECMO, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) can be simultaneously performed by attaching a hemofilter to the ECMO circuit, thereby shunting part of the ECMO blood flow through the hemofilter. However, ...
متن کاملNosocomial infections in adult patients undergoing extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.
The use of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) for adult patients has increased in recent years. A retrospective cohort study of adult patients undergoing ECMO was performed between 19 February 1985 and 10 October 1995 to evaluate nosocomial infections. Seventy-one evaluable patients underwent ECMO for a total of 799 days. Forty-six infections were identified in 32 (45%) of 71 patients. ...
متن کاملTrough Concentrations of Vancomycin in Patients Undergoing Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation
To investigate the appropriateness of the current vancomycin dosing strategy in adult patients with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), between March 2013 and November 2013, patients who were treated with vancomycin while on ECMO were enrolled. Control group consisted of 60 patients on vancomycin without ECMO, stayed in medical intensive care unit during the same study period and with t...

immunosuppressive medications increase the risk of infection regardless of ESRD; (2) rates of death should take into consideration duration of follow up; (3) comparison of causes of death between ESRD and non-ESRD patients should take into account the state of disease activity. The goal of maintenance immunosuppressive therapy in patients in remission is to decrease the risk of relapse. Decisio...
متن کاملKinetics of Procalcitonin in Pediatric Patients on Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation
Objectives To assess the kinetics of procalcitonin (PCT) and C-reactive protein (CRP) in pediatric patients who required extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and to analyze its relationship with morbidity and mortality. Patients and methods Prospective observational study including pediatric patients who required ECMO. Both PCT and CRP were sequentially drawn before ECMO (P0) and until ...
